American Sniper Pleasure and Escape

Prior to watching American sniper in the theaters I saw the previews many times and I really wanted to see the movie. I am never in to these kinds of movies so many people were surprised that I wanted to see it. Before watching this movie my expectations about it were that it was going to be a good movie about a family and a father that goes to war. I thought it was going to revolve more around the son then anything. I also heard lots of things online and my friends and family on how great of a movie it was.  Of course this influenced me to want to see it even more because I trust my friend and families views. I watched this movie with four of my friends. After watching the movie I had a different outlook on life. This fulfilled my expectation and so much more. Through this experience I did find “pleasure and escape.” This movie left me wanting to know more about what happened to the soldier. Also finding out that it was based on a true story left me feeling sad. Though it was sad doesn’t mean I didn’t find pleasure. The purpose of entertainment is to provide pleasure and escape, of course not everyone will find please and escape in some things but that’s why there are so many different forms of entertainment.

  1. yes I agree, escape and pleasure are individualized as the need and want of each of us is unique. the experience of the individual is heightened by multiple people all enjoying the experience together.
